    Jerrico scott

he is being punished by being too good.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Nine-year-old Jericho Scott is a good baseball player -- too good, it turns out.

The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.

Officials with the Youth Baseball League of New Haven say they will disband Jericho Scott's team because his coach won't stop him from pitching.

Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho's team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. They say Jericho's coach, Wilfred Vidro, has resigned.

But Vidro says he didn't quit and the team refuses to disband. Players and parents held a protest at the league's field on Saturday urging the league to let Jericho pitch.

If you follow that logic everyone that won medals in the Olympics should not be allowed to compete in the next one. Especially Michael Phelps.

Grabbed this from a different article. It's really sick that they're punishing a little kid for this:

Jericho?s coach and parents say the boy is being unfairly targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league?s administrators.

Jericho instead joined a team sponsored by Will Power Fitness. The team was 8-0 and on its way to the playoffs when Jericho was banned from pitching.

What a load of bunk. This story getting out should get them some "good" publicity though...

Yeah, this is showing our kids if someone is too good, don't practice and get better just remove them.

              I signed the petition.

Everybody wins and nobody looses.. that way nobodies feelings get hurt.... God, I had to keep myself from punching the keyboard when I typed that out because that's what everybody is thinking who isn't on that Kid's team.... Seriously, who in their right mind thinks that because a kid is good that he shouldn't play? Anybody near there want to send them a punch to the gut for me? And when ya do it, make sure you pull back a bit and get a good running start so they feel it. Then let them know that the punch is so they know how that kid probably feels, and that they are probably lucky the kid didn't do that because they'd probably be knocked on their fat arses if that kid has a arm like they are saying.

                        I disagree with you all.

All the good CoD4 players shouldn't be allowed to play because they kicked my ass and ruined my fun.

Actually.. .grenades did that... but still... can't I have my fun?

I think they should give him a break at pitching, set some limits. You got to remember that other players get frustrated not being able to hit the ball because some kid is playing like a high schooler. Let the kid pitch, yes, but I think there should be restrictions. I remember as a kid there was an amazingly tall kid that destroyed everyone in Basketball, and a lot of players didn't even show up to the game on other teams that knew they had to face the team with the really good boy.

I'm not saying remove him because he's too good, but there needs to be some restrictions, or at least move him to a more advanced league.

It's like having a high school leveled student in a 1st grade spelling Bee.

i kinda agree with you, but not totally. first of all that is one of the reason little leage have age group. he might be better than other kids at his age group, but they should not banned him because he is better.

if take him to more advance good might do good or do no good to him. he might throw good, but on the other way he might not too good at hitting or out field(running). so it is not really fair to him.

not exactly high school leveled student in a 1st grade speeling bee. he is the same age with other student just happened to be better at pitching than other person at his own age. but i do agree with you with setting with limitation him to pitch.

It's more like a 1st grader with high school skill at a 1st grade spelling bee...
A 9 year old isn't going to be able to have a real control of how fast he throws. Restricting a kid from doing the best he can is almost as bad as not letting him play at all.
