    Japan starts work on space elevator

    Japan hopes to turn sci-fi into reality with elevator to the stars - Times Online

    It'd be REAL nice if we actually had a working space elevator. With today's materials though, I'm not really holding my breath on having a working one within my life span.

    Would people talk on that elevator ride, or just look at the ceiling, shuffling their feet and humming?

    It would be quite a sight. I can think of quite a bit of trash that we could catapult into space, too, from there.

                        Having tried many cases I've given up on expensive ones. Not convinced they are significantly better than an inexpensive gel case for 1/10 the money....
