EA smokes a little more crack

99.8% of gamers don’t care about DRM, says EA | News | Custom PC

Honestly, they should just eliminate the entire management team and bring in some people with some brains.

Great find, This just gives me more reason not to buy crysis multiplayer.

I did buy the original crysis, and have no complaints about it it all. It had no activatioin "feature", no install limits that I know of, and didn't require an internet connection for offline play.

SecuROM is on that disc sure, and I didn't mind it so long as I got to complete the game, but with this crap EA is into these days, It's enough to ruin the game for me. SecuROM, plus this online registration BS, plus installation limits etc etc etc

I can't do it. My wallet refuses to open for EA. I see the game is on shelves now for around 20 dollars. Normally I"d jump on a chance for a top notch game at that price but the junk that comes along with it is just too much for me.

Whats sad is they can't even tempt the hardcare gamer into buying a half price game with all the restrictions they've put into it.

I liked 2142 also but EA never really addressed any issues. It was frustrating as hell dealing with them.

It's not just EA, most of these companies see ALL computer gamers as pirates. The next Gears of War will not be ported because: "Here's the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know Bittorrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC."
W-A-S-D: DRM Or No Game At All? Pick Your Poison | Maximum PC

I really can't understand this new logic, if a person may know how to be a criminal, then they must be a criminal.

I hope the folks making Gears of War 2 understand that quite a few hardcore gamers have consoles as well as pc's. I won't touch GoW2 out of self respect, but I expected it to be a crap game anyway. I curse the day EA killed Westwood, I loved the C&C series...

That should save you some money- considering roughly a little more than 1/3 of all games are published by EA..... Blizzard / Vivendi taking whats left....

Well, lets put it like this.... Just like any other company they are happiest when they get the most money. If they cut out the P.C. gamers, they cut out a portion of their profits. Unless they increase the cost of the games for the other systems. But by doing so people will buy them fewer and farther between because they would cost more. If they really don't want to screw themselves over in the long run, they will eventually wisen up a bit and realize that they need P.C. gamers to find the glitches for them before they go and try to port a gamer over to the other systems... Because they will loose money there as well. If they start to port out glitchy games, they will get a bad rep (well worse then what they already have) and people will quit buying games from them.

EA runs itself like a National Grocer-

They like the margins to be thin.
                        The profit to be thick
And the cost of labor to be as low as tolerable.

In my opinion it isnt EA's fault, its the marketplace's fault. Too many large competitors have diminished the quality and the variety of games,

Game studios can also be blamed- there was a great underground dot.com in gaming for the last 5-8 years, where the entire strategy was to build a game, or nearly build a game, showcase it at a game show, then get bought by a large game publisher and then go start another game studio.

                        This can also be blamed.

The gaming industry is a disorganized mess, and EA is suffering from it at the forefront because of crappy games that cost too much money for the same thing that was published 3 years ago with one added feature and a skin update.

The revolution is coming.....I believe in it.

I never bought Cyrsis simply because I have always had such a hard time getting EA Games to run.

This is the real reason I hate them.
