    Yeah, and this seems smart...

McCain's Sex Offender E-Mail Registry Signed Into Law | Threat Level from Wired.com

Entirely too many loopholes. And chances for bystanders to get drawn in. Not a smart piece of legislation imo.

    abstinence only!

Yes, keeping children ignorant of the dangers of predators will certainly work. Just like telling them (or teens' raging hormones) to "just say no" (ie., the war on drugs) to sex is certainly taking care of the problem of teen pregnancies.

If the kids don't learn these things from educators, they will learn them from the media or their peers, and you can guess what that does to one's sense of reality...I see examples every day in the city. Keeping a list of predators is certainly a start, but one should put politics aside and work on post-Victorian education methods as well. "Reach across the aisle" on this one, Maverick, and it may increase the chances of finding a winning combination.

Not totally on topic, but if you want kids to start learning about sex, then start introducing sex into every day media – tv, games, movies…

Look at how much kids learn about violence, guns, warfare, just by playing games and watching TV and movies. For some reason, sex is a huge taboo is in US. Showing a woman’s breasts in a non pornographic way is a huge no no. Violent movies? PG-13. Sex movies, 18+.

      Yeah. Go go gadget edumacation.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

[RANT]Are you reading what you wrote? Introduce sex into media? MORE? Seriously, and no one said anything about that? AND HOW is showing a woman's breast in any way NOT sexual? OMG.... "Sex is a huge Taboo in the US" BUHAHAHA.... ARE YOU SERIOUS.... TABOO? AMERICANS have sex everywhere, any time, with ANYONE they like... OK....Someone stab me in the eye so I don't read those kinds of things anymore. [/RANT]

he means the fact that we raise the level/age limit required to view it to adults and such which ultimatly makes everyone so damn curious that they WANT to look in and see what it is. You go to the movies and see some fellow get his head blown off in a pg-13 movie but if start showing boobs it becomes R.

Swearing and violence shifted from M games and R movie to T games and PG-13 movies... i mean Starcraft used to be rated M for violence and foul language.... seriously its all messed up

Trooper is there an example of smart legislation?

I haven't read the law but I don't see where trying to do this is a problem. I think, like any other government program, that it will be ineffective.

How did we get into discussing boobs on TV?

When people with no technological background begin endorsing ideas, this kind of thing happens.

There should be a national IP address assigned to these people.
Give them a token, such as an RSID ring, and require that they use it at all times while on the internet or face prison without exception (parole violation).

True there are ways around this, but it would be a far better idea than the crap this idea is. Just remember, my second business is all about capturing pedophiles and sex offenders who go "off-grid" and fail to register.

What I have proposed is to have these people given a national IP address that is registered. This type of technology I am talking about would pretty much seal these guys up tight.

Just think about it this way:

If a sex offender is paying for internet connectivity in his apartment, and the token hasnt been used in several days, that in itself could create a warrant to sieze their computer equipment for a legitimate search under the terms of parole.

What about bookstores, libraries and internet cafe's?
Believe it or not, we have ways of capturing that data and tying it to users already that I cannot share. It's not as easy to spoof in public as one might think. Fact is: people are creatures of tendency and those tendencies are transparent- and we always find people doing the same things they always do, visiting the same places they always visit, and etc. Plus- we already know who these people are- its not like trying to catch anonymous people- we already know the douchebag.

What about when they go to other peoples' homes and etc?
Same as above. We have ways of finding people all the time this way. The last dumb ass checked his Target Credit Card account whilst over a friends house. When we had the data pulled, we then had all the data for that location pulled, and then we found that the times that pedophilia were visited were the times that said douchebag had open access to both this persons house and that computer. Said 'friend' was absolutely co-operative and said that he had no idea that this guy was a douchebag, and thought he was a guy down on his luck trying to put his life back togeather after being in a professional role.

So like I said- National IP Registration like a Social Security Number for all convicted pedophiles and Felons in the US. In my opinion, that is the right thing to do. When they move and set up a new Ip, Comcast or whoever, will just automatically assign that IP to said douchebag, and the data is monitored by local. state, federal or whatever. Consistent Anchor.

Convicted Sex Offenders should be forced to have...
Purple License Plates on all their vehicles.

and Convicted DWI Offenders should be forced to have
Red License Plates on their vehicles.

and of course these plate colors give the police the right to stop them at any time.

and of course lets me know

                  Watch the Purple Closely !
Stay away from the RED !

we will call it ViTO's Law..... any signers !?!?
and dont give me that 1st amendment right crap. You should forfit that if your a... Kid Tocher

IP address won't work. You can quite easily hide your address by using an open proxy. Like from here

                    Open Proxy List

The RSA ID is a good idea however I'm not quite sure you could easily implement it. Or your could use private keys or digital certs. The problem is in the implementation. How do you make facebook implement it? Or any site...like say cainslair.org?

Again they can just as easily use an open proxy and create a hotmail or yahoo account.

Personally I think the easiest thing is sex ed for kindergartners

Texas tops the list of capital punishment deaths by almost 4 times the next in the list. Just think about those states that it isn't even allowed.

I don't quite have the numbers with me but up until a few weeks back, texas has executed only 100 to 125 killers/rapists. Now here is my question, if when i watch the news and there is at least 1 or 2 murders a day, how many are getting the death penalty? I say not enough. Hamurabi's first code was right, it will always be right, "An Eye for an Eye, and a Tooth for a tooth~" Simple, clear, direct. You kill, within the next month, you should be dead. The whole fair trial crap is stupid, the whole MORON jury is stupid. Hell, even the judges are stupid. How can you let a killer of 20 set bail and run off somewhere else? MANY are a bunch of morons. The system should be rewritten with codes of this time, not the ones from 1776 when they wore stretchy underpants and whigs.... As for the states that dont allow killing of Criminals, then this is for you *Raises middle finger*

1st Number is executions, and 2nd is current death row inmates.

                            Top 5 States
                            Texas 414 373
                            Virginia 102 21
                            Oklahoma 88 84
                            Missouri 66 48
                            Florida 66 397

I do agree somewhat with you Phantom. I say we need more evidence "beyond a reasonable doubt" if we are going to execute someone, especially with several people being released recently with DNA testing.

I wonder how many of those 414 people from Texas were innocent? I imagine that a least a few are, and that isn't right.

Please mapes. Integrate 'more' sex ed because 'nothing' will work for convicted sex offenders. Ridiculous. I personnally don't want sex ed taught in school. That is the realm of family, not state sponsered teaching.

It's funny, we are so 'developed' now, but the thoughts people have these and the degradation of our country is evident. We are getting better, we are getting worse, and thoughts like that one above is one of the reason.

As for instituting the Code of Hammurabi, you should read more about that. It had so many laws that ended in death it wasn't funny. Also the law was an attempt to control human urges. As people's minds become more debased, you will need more and more laws. You can't just kill everyone. Are we applying all this equally? Phantom, read up on the CJS a little more before you think such thoughts. If you did what you are describing, innocent people would be caught up in it, democracy would fail more than it is already has and well, life would change drastically.

Hammy is onto something with the sex offenders, and obviously they need to be monitored better. But here's the thing, it's not just sex offenders. Most criminals 'REPEAT' what they did in the first place. If we start with sex offenders, we need to finish with all the others that have committed crime. Armed robbers, arsonists, all Category I crimes should be monitored than. Sex crimes are one of the worst and sex pedophiles the worst but mostly ALL repeat most of the time. I believe a system could be adopted for pedophiles that works better than the one now, without locking every one of them up for life. Remember it's our TAX dollars, about 37,000 per year per convict as opposed to 4 dollars per day on parole/probation.
