RIAA.....time to go after 19 year old transplant patients!

    Recording Industry vs. The People
Teen Transplant Candidate Sued Over Music Downloads - Pittsburgh News Story - WTAE Pittsburgh

Guess since they're having trouble suing "regular Joes" now they're going after people even further down the chain of luck. I hope the lawyer taking up her case nails their rears to the wall and gets her some money out of it as well.

People think it's easy, when it's not. I mean she still claims that she didn't download anything but they prosecute the people downloading 100+ songs. That being said, they couldn't have chosen a worst target.

Actually, the lawsuit is for $8000 for infringing on 10 songs, if you read the article. Which they say is being downloaded by the residence of the father who left/moved out months before. Also seeing as they're majorly in debt from medical bills, I don't see much chance that they're running broadband internet, although who knows. I think the RIAA needs to stop being stupid about who they target, when it has been PROVED that MediaSentry/SafeNet is basically full of **** about who they are saying is downloading things. They can't show any real evidence, they just go for the fear factor that people are getting ripped off, stolen from, it's ending the American dream, etc.

There's already a lot of cases against the RIAA, a large majority of the cases already tried have been overturned due to lack of actual evidence, or clear evidence to the contrary of what the RIAA is saying. A lot of States have lawsuits against the RIAA/MediaSentry(SafeNet) due to unlawful investigations. All kinds of educational institutes are taking action against them, whether by telling them to **** off or getting their law programs involved with defending people the RIAA is accusing. Heck, there's a good number of musical artists with law suits against the RIAA because they're not distributing the funds that they "obtained for the artists", they're holding on to them and using them for their own purposes.

All I can see in their future is a lot of pain, agony, and lost money that could have been better spent providing people with an outlet to obtain music legally, cheaply, and quickly, exactly what they get for using "unlawful" means, as opposed to the draconian DRM schemes, or idiotic ways of handling DRM that is currently out there.

I have to say, I hope the RIAA, MPAA, and other such organizations fail horribly as they appear to be doing, and become a relic of the past that no one remembers.
