ROFL, They just changed the page to "Windows 7 Beta coming soon!"
These so called IT guys crack me up. I can't count the number of times an idiot manager or some so called IT professional says something stupid like oh yeah one 2950 server can handle all the traffic.
Evidently they overloaded their butt with their mouth.
When I checked earlier they had ONE server answering all http calls to start the download process. They weren't I wouldn't dought it one bit if some idiot in charge actually though it could not only handle the calls but also manage the traffic of the actual download instead of redirecting to a farm of servers.

Ugh, not my night...from the website:
Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal -- we’re in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We’re sorry for the delay and we’ll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience.

Here is a fantastic Interview with Mark R. about Windows 7 improvement. I think it may answer some of everyones question about how big a change it is over Vista.
I've mentioned him before, but Mark is the man when it comes to kernel operation, etc. That's why Windows hired him and bought out his sysinternals tools.

By the way if you really want to play with Windows 7 and not mess with your current machines configuration and safely play with it, try this tool from Sun. It is a great virtual machine tool and if you don't like it try Microsofts Virtual PC. I like them both but the Sun XVM is much friendlier for video resource allocation but may require a little more knowledge on your part if you want to get network connectivity enabled. Also you can down load vmware tools also, but I haven't done it in a while and don't know what is required. I guess I should sometime

                                Sun xVM
                                Sun xVM VirtualBox

                                Windows Virtual PC

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
