I know exactly what you mean. The good news is my sis said she installed Win7 on her extra partition and it's working great so far. She said the performance improvement is quite encouraging. I haven't asked how the dual boot is working so far, but I'm sure she'll give me some more feed back.

I think I'm gonna install it on one of my rigs at work and test it out. That way I'm not actually messing with my main system...

True. I can confirm that I have installed win7 on extra 30 Gb partition.
About dual boot ; when PC is started there is menu where You can choose wich OS You want to run. If untouched win7 will be default to run after 30 sec.
        So far so good.
Graphic driver for Nvidia are downloaded as windows update, but from nvidia web site.

Fastest ... oddly enough, my new version of Nero doesn't allow me to specify less than fastest (unless I specify Nero extra, of course).

I also had something corrupted in a download earlier, that was fixed by redownloading it.
I had already downloaded it a second time, assuming that was what was happening (even with a matching md5 hash) and truthfully, I had the SAME THING happen on an earlier beta build obtained via torrent almost a month ago. Both failed at 2% of the burn. I took the liberty of stripping Securom off of one of the problematic PCs, so I'll test it later.

Here's an in depth review from ars technica for those who don't want to install it yet.

Well I have already rolled back to vista lol....There are too many companies who have not issued compatability updates for the new OS...Itunes and Quicktime=FAIL, Punkbuster on the majority of games=Fail due to unrecognised Windows API.....I think Im going to wait a few months before thinking about going back to this OS

Ummm, I hope you weren't using that as a serious OS Zantheus. It's still in beta stages, we're not even talking a Release Candidate yet. Which means that support will be limited if it exists at all, including drivers, not to mention tech support. Yes, it uses a good number of the same APIs and whatnot from Vista, but things have changed.

Not to mention that many times you can't upgrade from a beta to a release candidate, or even from a release candidate to a gold release on occasions.

I wouldn't even think that there will be a gold release with full support until late summer at the earlier, at this point. Knowing MS, it could be 2010 before we see one.

                        BAH! They named it wrong:
                        Windows 3.1
                        Windows 95
                        Windows 98
                        Windows 2000
                        Windows XP
                        Windows Vista
                        Windows 7

What happened to Windows ME? It should be Windows 8, but Micro$oft probably felt like using "lucky" #7.
