    video card permanent damage?

You may want to do a couple things in the BIOS to see if that may help:

Turn off AGP Fast Writes (you can do this from within CCC as well)
Bump up your AGP Aperture size to the next size up (ie: 128->256, 256->512.

Does it happen in 2D as well as 3D, or only in games ?

ah, but she be PCI express!!!

Artifacts occur in all 3d games. I can confirm Crysis, CoD: united offensive, Company of heroes, all source-engine based games, and supreme commander. Those are all the games I have played For a while.

Happens when its too hot, check your heat sink for dust... clean out those anti-dust guards on the case etc.

Know after i do that its ok again...

Curious, can you use Rivaturner to turn up your fan speeds? Or are they already at 90%.

As I posted earlier, I am using the Arctic Accelero S1 cooler, it should be more than adequate. I know dang well its clean because I just switched to a much better case. Besides, you saw the screen shot. that card was running 40 - 45 C... while playing. That should be well within acceptable temperature range!

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
