    BIOS not finding HDD

I just recently replaced my main drive with a 500 gig SATA Drive.

I want to install my other drive (spare drive) on an IDE connection....I jumpered both slave and for master...but the BIOS is simply not finding it. It's as if it's not even there?

    Anyone?

Uh, did you jumper master AND slave? Not entirely sure what you meant up there. You want to have it jumpered for Master and on the end of the IDE cable. Cable Select *may* work but I've had enough trouble with it that I personally jumper for master or slave now.

If you have it jumpered properly I'd try replacing the cable, you may have damaged it somehow while working in the computer, I've seen it happen before. Also take the cables out, and reseat them, both the IDE cable and the power cable. Change the power cable if you have any extra in there, maybe there's an issue with it.

If its a Western Digital IDE hard drive, they really don't like Master/Slave for some odd reason. I have to set it to Cable Select to get some of them to work properly.

Speaking from experience here, so try that.

Try switching the IDE cable connections around. For some reason some cables only like working one way.

There is one other point to be made here. Is this a modern motherboard? You may have to go into the BIOS and enable the onboard IDE interface......

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
