I actually agree for the most part with CI's predictions on these, and not the reader predictions.

Three points

Vmware does virtualization on UNIX platforms. Something that MS does not. since a fair amount of automation testing is done on UNIX I wouldn't bet on them going tits up. Although friends of mine that work there are worried about MS intentionally crippling the MS platforms under VMware.

Citrix also does virtualization (see Xen). I don't think Citrix is in anyway in trouble since they're been the gold standard for remote server apps and app farms

Checkpoint.... I absolutely loath Checkpoint. That Nokia division they talk about....Well I worked for it. That Nokia division started out as Ipsilon Networks who made multiple layer switches. Well Cisco kicked they're ass and they decided to make rack mountable hardware platforms that run Checkpoint's firewall 1 and vpn 1 software. Over half of Checkpoint software sales were bundled with Nokia hardware. Working in Nokia QA testing this software it became very apparent that Checkpoint made crap and didn't even test it. I hope they die.....
