    Wireless problems on my laptop

I have had the laptop that i do most of my work on for a little over a year and a half now. It has been great up until recently when the wireless internet on it stopped working. Whats really odd is that it isn't out all the time. Sometimes it will work, and when this is the case it will work until my computer is turned off, reset, or put into hibernation. Most of the time it doesn't work though. Sometimes all it takes is a quick restart to get it working again. Sometimes it starts working again if i leave the computer on for about 24 hours. Sometimes it doesn't come back for weeks at a time.

The real kicker on this one is my computer is still covered on the super awesome extended warranty that I bought for it, but Best Buy wants to charge me almost 200 dollars to remove the spyware that they found on it before they even look at it.

I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this and if there is anything i can do to fix it from home.

Try replacing the drivers. Might not be the issue, but it doesn't hurt, I just fixed my cousin's wireless on her laptop over Christmas for her with that simple little thing. Her's was out all the time though. Then look for firewalls/antivirus/security suites that might interfere with it, or if you have more than one, that might cross-talk and do bad things. Might be looking at hardware starting to go bad, but in that case I'd think it would be out all the time.

if i were you i would dl the 5 or 15 day trial of norton's latest thing, and use that to fix the spyware. if you cant finish the DL, DL it on another comp and copy it over. then bestbuy should fix it for you.

1.) Nortan is the spawn of the devil, no good shall come of it...

2.) I would suggest using Spybot Search and destroy, along with Ad-aware, and Avira.... This should clear up your pc of any spyware/malware/adware/viruses that may be on it.

If you're still having connection problems after you've cleaned it out, and installed the latest drivers for your wireless card in your laptop then I would use the warrenty.

We have cordless phones, but they haven't been a problem in the past. I doubt a neighbor's cordless phone would have any bearing on this considering my nearest neighbor is a half a mile away.

Ill try all of these things and get back to you guys about this, Thanks for all the feedback.

i agree, but it works and the fact that they give you a free trial that is like a 10-15 sec DL on broadband kinda makes it worth it, if only as a temporary measure

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
