    h.264 or WMV DVD?

    hello ppl
    got a question
of the two, h.264 and wmv dvd, which one has the better quality at the same resolution?
I heard h.264 is the newest and stuff, but sometimes the h.264 version has lower sizes than the wmv dvd version, hence why i am confused whose quality is better

What are we calling resolution? Like 800x600? You're probably going to get very similar quality there. Personally I like the H.264 because you get high quality with lower file sizes. It's a newer format and designed to be less resource intensive, where as WMV is old old old.

If you want to find out more about H.264, try reading up on it here: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

H.264 is the standard format for HD compression. Blu-ray players like the PS3 and other standalones use AVCHD which is H.264.

WMV-HD will most likely stick around but as streaming internet videos only.

        thanks for the answers
basically my situation is that i wanna download a video available in both wmv dvd and h264, both at 640x480
I dont really care about file size, and i just want the one with the better quality
        I guess i should pick the h264?
