    PayPal security check

Guys have any of you used PayPal recently. I tried to use it today and it said they were doing random security checks or something like that and it wanted me to put my credit card number in.

They had my email right, and i was able to log on with my password, but I'm kinda wary about somebody asking me twice for my card number.

Anybody know what this is about or know what I'm talking about.

If it was via an email, it was possibly not them.

If it was on the paypal site, its normal, I get it now and then due to my account having no pattern.

One i get only asks for the number never anything else from the card.
But not had it in a while so might have changed...

I do know that ask me to confirm things like my house name, phone number and junk often,
as said my account gets 'suspicious activty' flagged to often.

Better to be flagged than to ignore a hijack attempt.

You are correct, it only asked me for the number everything else was right. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wading off into something I would regret later.

Thats one reason I dont keep a lot of money in that account.

Why worry about the CC number. The thing that enables commerce on the internet is not SSL but, by law (here in the US)your only liable for the first 50 bucks of fraudulent charges. Not that I'm advocating randomly spraying your CC number around but, I generally don't worry about it. Now SS number is something different.

                  Very true...
Its a pain in the butt when they lock the account up...

Gotta phone numbers, enter secret codes, and offer yourself up as sacrafice to the paypal gods.

Then they have the nerve to ask you to change your password, even thou your accounts not compromised...

yup its happened to me WAY to often, but hey is better safe than sorry.

I never respond through an email to anything.

If my bank sends me anything- I log in through the website.
                      Same for anything else.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
