AMD To Launch Radeon HD 4890 "RV790" In April

AMD is slated to launch the Radeon HD 4890 card based on the RV790 core in April not the rumored Radeon HD 4970. The RV790XT A11 sample is running at 850Mhz core at 1.3V and 975Mhz GDDR5 memory. In comparision, a Radeon HD 4870 (RV770) card runs at 750MHz core and 900MHz GDDR5 memory. AMD told their partners that RV790 is expected to be around 20% faster than the current Radeon HD 4870 RV770 card and will compete headon against the GeForce 285 GTX card. The pricing? Between US$199 to US$249.

ATI has a card that's back in the game now, or very close at least (stock speeds only), however... I personally have had much better luck with Nvidia (mainly EVGA and BFG Tech) over any ATI product.

Yeah, I have had luck with the EVGA/NVIDIA combination. It'll be tough for me to decide what to do when I decide to upgrade. The new ATI cards seem to have more bang for the buck.

It is true. ATI have always been lacking in the warranty department. But i'm sure i posted something quite a while ago now where Nvidia were dropping partners; one being BFG.

I'd almost certainly go ATI/AMD right now.

I have enjoyed EVGAs support so much that unless there was a huge difference in price per performance department I would probably not switch. Now if EVGA used ATI I would be more willing to switch.
