    Needless Things in VISTA

Problem 1: My mom is getting irritated when typing ANYTHING in her system Word or Email or ANYTHING lengthy text. It jumps the cursor back to the middle of a sentence or within the same email or wherever she's typing something up anywhere

    This is with VISTA.

Problem 2: Windows has blocked some start up program and underneath windows blocks programs that requires permission to run when WINDOWS start...then CLICK to view blocked program. Pops up randomly without her even touching anything. If she wanted to do that she knows how to do it already...doesn't need the computer telling her this.

She's trying to figure out how to shut if off.

Thing is, she's irritated that Windows are NEEDLESSLY giving people USELESS information. It's like the system has to ask you if it's okay to wipe your butt.

Problem 3: In Adobe Photo shop, I (Tony) opened up a previous document (PDF) that I had open the other day...the next day, my mom was downloading a PDF for something else...when she went to OPEN IT...it opened up the document AND the previous document I HAD looked at yesterday.

And she is trying to figure out how to turn off all this needless crap.

      Not bitter are we?

      1. I don't think this is caused by Vista. I have been running Vista at home since it came out and haven't seen this. It is most likely caused by a driver or some other software she has running. I had a problem with a wireless mouse in WinXP that would cause the cursor to jump across the screen at random. I replaced the mouse and it fixed the problem.

      2. Try this instead of regular UAC: http://www.nortonlabs.com/inthelab/uac.php It does prompt you the first time you run something, but you can check the box to never ask again. You can select this for items that run at startup as well.

      3. No idea. Sorry.

Hope this helps with some of your problems.

You can turn off the application questions by disabling UAC under /control Panel/users or something.

You know ihave this problem on a occasion where the cursor jumps. Question is your mom using a laptop with a touch pad?

Know its not helping but, i've seen touchpads you just have to look at and the cursor moves lol
Not litterally, but i've used one where i never even got to touch it and the cursor went nuts on me.

Some of those things are quite sensitive...

I'm not insane. I'm just overwhelming!

The UAC popup is Vista, I don't believe the rest is. I'm curious about the wireless mouse or touch pad question too. I've seen this type of mouse pointer jumping with touch pads when I hit them with my palm or wireless mice jumping when it switches channels.

Ya know, I would say load XP just so that the system is running a bit faster and easier. Vista was like ME... it just needs to die.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
