Impulse buy at CC's last 6 hour sale

Well we have been looking for a PC to put in my sons room so he can use all his educational software. I have this old P3 machine that I was going to use but we needed a keyboard and mouse. I figured we could stop by Circuit City and get a deal. Well as it turns out it was their last six hours and there was one last desktop. I looked at it and thought it was nicely loaded for $600.00 U.S. I haven't had a chance to price an equivalent build out yet so I figured I would post the specs here to see what my fellow hardware junkies thought.

    HP m9426f
    Core 2 Quad Q6600
    8 GB DDR2
    640 GB HDD
ATI HD 3650 Graphic card with 512 MB
    Vista Home Premium 64

    I hope I haven't screwed up.

          Nice, Duke

I was almost thinking about getting one for the price...but ended up getting a great deal on a camera lens, G9 mouse, and G15 keyboard...after which I really had spent enough. That should be a great computer for the price!

Well I wish I had been thinking about this earlier because I could have used some of theses accessories but there was hardly anything left. So far it seems like a nice little machine.

Hey, Skud, after you use the G9 for a bit tell us how well you like it. I have been interested to hear whether it is worth switching from my MX518 or a G5.

As far as performance goes, I'm not sure there's any noticeable difference from my G5 (nothing a mere mortal can notice). What there is is : you can tweak the settings to four presets, up to 1,600 DPI, but that's too high for me anyway: thing jumps right across the screen. There are two grips that you can snap on, depending on your comfort preference...and it's got the weights that you can add again like the G5 to make it feel just right. The wheel is more precise. It's a slick setup, for sure. I got the corded (I never buy cordless anything: batts suck).

So, I dunno. I bought it because I know that someday I'll burn my other one out, and it was a great deal that would soon vanish. If it weren't for the deal, you might be just as well off using what you have until it dies. It is an awesome mouse, though. I'm glad I bought it (like a placebo to make me forget for a bit about building a new rig!).
