The laughability of 24's techno babble

Bruce Schneier is one of the greatest cryptographers around. He's written many many books on the subject and he used to work with the NSA. He also is the author of the cryptographic algorithm called Blowfish. The source code is freely available for perusal by anyone. The idea being that crypto algorithms are stronger when they can be publicly peer reviewed.

Well 24 has mentioned the cipher twice now including this exchange

16 or 32 bit wavelength...Native or modified data points ...wtf that means nothing.

Plus it's insulting as hell to suggest Bruce would write a backdoor into the cipher.....

LOL exactly. I have never seen a realistic "hacking" scene in a movie... It would be real easy to hack into a system if you had nice icons you could manipulate...

As for hacking scenes....the most laughable is Jurassic Park...This is a Unix machine...I can hack it... When it's clearly a Mac

The most realistic hacking scene is in Matrix 2. When trinity uses actual hacking tools.... Nmap and SShNuke. That is spot on.

Because most people have no idea what they are talking about. I do the same thing when I watch supposed fight scenes in movies. Almost every one of them are laughingly ridiculous. And knife fighting scenes are the worst.
The most realistic fight scene in a movie should go to Yakuza. It starred Ken Takakura and Robert Mitchum. I think it was released around 1974 or 19765
