    Birthday surprise

Well my parents surprised me with one of these when I returned from my spring break trip. It is very nice, and I am really enjoying its portability.

So far I haven't done much with it, but I have installed Ubuntu 8.1 (Linux for amatuers)
and I am dual booting it with Windows XP. Today I am planning on copying a lot of stuff over (movies, music, etc).

Nice. What all can you do with it? I'm only vaguely aware of the netbook phenomenon now, since I tend to focus on power.

I plan it to use it mostly for school work (and taking to school), which only involves Office and the internet. It definitely can't play any games, and can only do some basic image editing in GIMP.

In a year and a half I will be off in college and will want something portable (because I will have a desktop as my main computer) so this will be it.

It is really a neat little toy!

It does exactly what I need it to. The only downside is no CD or DVD drive so the recovery CD and CD with drivers that they give you are pretty useless unless you buy a USB CD/DVD drive.

I can be surfing the internet and open Word and have no stutter or slowdowns. The keyboard is only slightly smaller than a normal sized keyboard - I haven't had any problems typing.

The standard BIOS doesn't allow overclocking, so I will have to wait on a "hacked" BIOS to do it. People have come out with them for the Wind U100, but not yet for the Wind U120 (which is what I have).

Nice little machine. I wouldn't mind getting something like that for work.

Do you know who the BIOS vendor is?
