Oracle to Buy Sun for $7.4 Billion After IBM Withdraws Bid - Bloomberg.com

I worked at Siebel Systems until they were acquired by the Death Star (Oracle). For those of you who have never been out here, they have a series of builds that are shaped like the original Servers they used to make-- and they are all black. Anyways, I left immediately because of their churn and burn environment. You are one part lucky, one part skill, and one part political in their business environment as an employee of Oracle.

Anyways, Sun was Google 15yrs ago. They had a skunkworks, etc. They always had a new something that hit the market, but never really churned a product, and they lived a long life on license revenue from just two areas of business.

Google today follows the same issues and problems and in 15 years Google should be as brittle as Sun was today when Oracle completed the acquisition process with a joint announcement.

I can still remember as a kid the day they started building their first building there. Now its a behomoth of a company.

Oh snap, I thought Oracle bought the actual sun. Now that would be interesting.
[this is where my funky sig would go. But I don't have one.
So all you get is this crappy text]

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
