One reason why I went AMD again on my latest (all my) build. Of course, it looks like Intel could use the money to support its thuggish tactics.

P.S. The main reason I've avoided them has always been those ridiculous commercials with the guys in the space suits, way back when. lol

The fine is quite low taken into consideration how long Intel is doing this and how big their empire is.

Also, neither AMD or other firms nor the customers get a cent from it.

        One more thing-

The record fine during a down economy is quite irresponsible of the court

So the government sticks it to the big bad company in the name of fairness then keeps the money for them selves?

I wouldn't be suprised if the money went straight into the EU kitty. The same kitty that is costing the UK ?44million a day. For what? Who knows.

Maybe they need it for their expenses.

So now Intel will lay off a significant portion of their EU employees, and the fine will balance out in terms of cost, and the EU will benefit little to none with lost Tax Revenues and business investment from Intel.

Not a bad idea for the short-term thinking people

The EU is notorious for looking the otherway in bribery and anti-competitive allegations when it is a European nation, however, when it is an Asian or America's corporation, this sort of thing isnt very surprising.

The signal to big businesses is very clear- be very lenient in investing in the EU as they are not really interested in the holistic benefit, but rather a tiered competitive marketplace that heavily favors companies originated within their own marketplace.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
