    EVGA Lifetime Warranty? Yeah, right....

This is just a heads up for everyone who buys an EVGA graphics card with a Lifetime Warranty. If you do not register it within 30days of purchase on their website, you only have a 1yr warranty (this is in the small print). I just found out the hard way, my 8800GT just fried after 18months, and EVGA won't cover anything.

I'm personally going back to BFG, I had a 2yr old card that they did cover and replace under lifetime warranty, I had the original receipt and thats all they needed and they shipped me a new card.

So make sure you register your EVGA cards.

Yikes. I knew about the registration part. You also need to make sure it shows up in your list of parts to follow through with it. I'm sorry to hear about you card pigworthy.

They just implemented this policy change last year, and you should have had a pack-in slip in the box with the card warning you of the registration change. I think mine was a day-glo green IIRC.
I think this was to prevent people from buying used cards and registering them years later just so they could send the card back for replacement.

PNY and BFG are the best two manufacturers out there.

I have a PNY in my rig right now, and I had a replacement with no questions asked in less than 5 days when it died. I even told them it may have been my fault and they could care less.

PNY ?? Oh my, I beg to differ on this one, Hammy

Quote from the PNY tech support:

Lifetime Replacement Warranty is given to all PNY? Verto? Graphics Cards.
              >This warranty is for replacement for like items only. Lifetime Replacement warranty does not cover items out of production if PNY no longer stocks them.

              > (Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the product on the market. Outdated technology is not covered by lifetime warranty if the item is no longer available on the common market as a new product.)

This warranty is not assignable. PNY's sole obligation under this warranty is to replace or, at its option to repair, with new or remanufactured product, free of charge.

That is the last vendor that I would recommend based on the above, as they can determine when to end the warranty. This debacle was brought to attention when buyers of 8800 series cards were trying to obtain warranty work on a card that was a bit over 2 years old, only to be told that the cards were now out of warranty.

Well, I have no big issue with EVGA because "I" did not do the steps I was suppose to, so I pay the price for it. I just wanted to make sure the rest of the community doesn't make the same mistake. I personally have had better experience with BFG, so thats the way I'm going when I get some extra cash. For now I have my EVGA 7800gt in the system. I did register that one.

I still have the box for the 8800gt, I'll go look for that registration card.

Good question !! I returned a 7900GT card after three years, so I've heard of a 5200 card being RMA'd for a better card (one of the things I love about eVGA) but unfortunately in that case, they sent hm a PCIe 6600GT card to replace his 5200 AGP card.

I have a 6800 vanilla AGP card that I wish would die, so I could see what they'd come up with for an RMA for me.

Are you talking about the X58 regular or the Classified ?? I haven't heard anyone complain about the Classified, other than when they bought it for $450.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
