Reasons why Linux isn't ready for the desktop

Why Linux is not (yet) Ready for the Desktop v0.2.2

Don't agree with everything on there, but well thought out and some good points.

Actually yeah I agree for most users I wouldn't bother unless it was a web client only. Most of his points are right on for a desktop use. However I don't run my linux box at home as a desktop. It's a server...It runs

    DNS server
    Gallery picture web host
    Wordpress blog site
    Subsonic java/tomcat web music streamer
    Logitech Squeezecenter server
    SSH server
    CIFS file sharing
    Home automation (x10 controls)
    etc...

It runs very fast and extremely stable. In fact I dad 140 days of uptime and the only reason it went down at all was because of a 8 hour power outage that killed my ups.

So no even I don't use it as a desktop. On my desktop and laptop I'll run cygwin if I need Unix like abilities.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
