Not that I distrust MS or anything, but think I'll wait a week before I install it on my laptop and brick everything

Looks like there's some nice stuff in there though.

Personally, I always liked using the first version of Vista. I didn't even install SP1. Just a waste of space, unless you have a weak system that can't handle Vista. In which case, you shouldn't even install vista.

Ummmmm........totally wrong. They made quite a few improvements, especially to network performance. If you don't care about your network performance, great, but I'd like to eek the most out of my network that I can.

They also upped and added a lot more compatibility for applications.

              Increased power performance.
And those are off the top of my head.

Please see her for a full list of the improvements SP1 made over vanilla Vista: Notable Changes in Windows Vista Service Pack 1

In then end, if you're running Vista and didn't update to SP1, you're stupid imo.

                Now that's an intelligent statement.

This apparently tweaks the network stack yet again, so hopefully I can get a bit more speed out of my network. I'm all for that, and I just upgraded to gigabit on everything (even the wireless router) so anything is helpful.
