      I'll be preordering I guess
Might as well see how the old desktop handles it since I never upgraded it to Vista.

I wonder if this would run on my laptop? If it does then I would buy a copy.

Are you running XP or Vista, Duke? If I'm remembering correctly you have a Vista machine, which oughta run Windows 7 with no trouble.

I have Vista Home Premium 64. I will keep an eye on the notebook forums to see if anybody else tries it.

I think Windows 7 should be called Vista Second Edition.

Personally I think the reason they rushed the release of Windows 7 is because of the (inaccurate) bad image that Vista has gotten. It still doesn't have the new file system that was originally promised with Vista...

Downloading the 64 bit version... gonna try it out tomorrow.

edit: CRAP IT! I can't seem to find Windows 7 64 ro 32bit drivers for my motherboard... Seems like gigabyte doesn't want people with 1 year old MoBo's to try out Win7 RC...Hum, I wonder if the old XP 32 drivers would work with win 7 32.... Anybody know one way or the other?

For those that want a free copy, keep an eye out for MS Rollout events held at dozens of cities around the country that are scheduled a week or so after the release of the OS.
They are held on either a Tuesday or Thursday for most of them, so take day off work and get a free OS.

Troop, I will be going to the one in King of Prussia if you are interested.

If Windows 7 doesn't find the drivers you need automatically, you should try the chipset maker's website. Also, you could try the Vista drivers.

I started at the gigabyte website... seems like my closest match would be some vista 64bit drivers.... I sure hope they work as i'm burning the ISO right now.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
