    Bing may surpass Yahoo

UPDATED: Bing and Yahoo battle it out for second in search | IT PRO

Looks like they pulled ahead, then fell back to third. No one even comes close to beating Google yet imo. Be nice to see some GOOD competition out there.

Yahoo lost their edge years ago. They should have realized they work much, much better in their original niche of directory servicing.

My last company was a Web Content Management solution provider.

Bing has been around for 2 years, this is the first formal marketing of the product.

It is very good, but Google is just the marketplace gorilla. It's going to be very hard to beat them at anything until the shine wears off on them.

As a 10+ year professional of software and technology, I would have to say that the marketplace law still exists whereby the best products do not always win in the marketplace due to things like: Brand, Marketing Power, compatibility with new technology, the cost of change, and Public Opinion.

Personally, I hope they do well, but business-wise I really think they will struggle for a time before they live successfully with this product.

As a 20 year veteran of the tech wars I 100% agree and lets not forget mismanagement and short sightedness either.
