I have roadrunner and from what I remember there were no equipment costs. I'm not sure exactly if there were at the start but when I upgraded to hd and phone i needed two new boxes and didn't get charged. They seem more interested in getting you the service than diming you everywhere. They gave me my 2 upgraded boxes before I returned the others and told me to drop them off when I was back in the area.Motivate

yea you should get Verizon Fios, a little pricey but trust me its better than cable for both internet and TV. In comparison verizon fios offers much more for less. One example 20 mbps download speed for fios is about $56 and the price for roadrunner is the same but for only 15 mbps. Same for TV all premium channels are $25 for fios but $44 for time warner. I'm really not familiar with time warner since here in PA its mainly comcast as the main cable provider but if fios is available I would recommend getting it.

I also have Time Warner (cable - TV / Internet), and installation is free. I'm very happy with the setup and I pay for premium internet access. Monthly my bill comes out to around $140-160 a month depending on whether I order On-Demand or not.

I switched from Time Warner to AT&T U-Verse last year and so far been really pleased w/ the service. Sure it bites sometimes when the connection gets dropped and you lose the TV, Phone and Net services but that's pretty rare.
ATM I save about $20 per month over my previous Warner cable + AT&T Phone/DSL combo. I get about double the amount of HD channels w/ far less compression compared to the Time Warner service in my area so that's been a real plus.
