Speed up internet?

Doesnt a modem limit maxinum internet speed just wondering...

They only send you cached pages mostly.

Wont be of much use nowadays, majority of internet pages are dynamic and have 0sec cache times.

If you want to speed up the internet then call your ISP and upgrade. It's the only way.

Some of the speed up apps do work in some ways

Sometimes they mess around with low level network settings. Usually not stuff that any user would mess with. Stuff like MTU size and TCP windows size. These settings can be kinda arcane and usually are best left alone. However sometimes depending on your link speed you might gain some performance by tweaking these. Problem is is that it's usually a trade off. You can speed up some apps but, others degrade.
