PC hardware firesale - its gotta go !

Well, after years of being one of those crazy PC nuts with way too many PCs to know what to do with, I have literally burned out entirely on PC hardware and the endless upgrade cycle. Some of you guys saw the signs when my posts in this forum tailed off, but it has reached a point where I don't even get excited when a PC gamer mag shows up in the mainbox.

Things had gotten so bad that I was literally buying two items minimum over the span of one week, so I am now going the opposite direction and selling off a lot of stuff to finance another hobby .... from PCs to ATVs (crazy, ain't it ...)

So I am offering up a few items to any CLR regulars or forum junkies who need some parts. From individual components to a whole PC .. its gotta go !!

Here's the rig I have up for sale:

    http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.aspx?rigid=35064

Vista 64 - e6600@ 3.4, 8gb RAM, SLI'd 9600's, RAID0 640gb HD (2x 320s). I am trying to keep this rig whole, rather than part it out. Its going on CraigsList in a week, so you guys get first dibs on it. Asking $500 for it, and I will bargain with CLRs to get that price even lower.

There's plenty of other hardware, two entire PCs in fact, so if you need parts, just post or PM me and I will get back to you.

    Full hardware list:

CPU: Intel C2D e6600 @ 3400MHz (will finish any stress test -100% stable OC)
    Motherboard: MSI P6N Platinum SLI
Memory: 8192 MB of Super Talent DDR2-800
Video Cards: eVGA 9600GSO SLI Nvidia (SLI'd and OC'd to 687/1717 shader using eVGA Precision utility)
    Hard Drives: Seagate RAID-0 640.0 GB @ 7200 RPMs (two 320gb drives)
    DVD R/W: BenQ 1655 DVD/RW SATA drive
Sound Card: Realtek ALC888 (onboard - couldn't fit a discrete card in there)
Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate 64 (DVD will come with the rig)
Other Components: Raidmax Smilodon Extreme - big, black case, green LEDs = sexy !
    Fortron Epsilon 600w PSU

This is a very solid build that I wish I could keep, but it is used an hour each month for Windows Updates and antivirus updates and that is it. Also tossed in with the hardware is a free copy of Far Cry 2 and the usual antivirus and office suite (Antivir and Open Office 3.1 as well as Nero 8.

You wouldn't happen to have an AM2 MoBo around would ya? I've had trouble finding a working one with onboard video on the normal sites. Also, if you happen to have a 150gb WD raptor drive laying around I would be interested in that as well so I can raid my raptor drive.

          Pics for those interested:

          Exterior shot of the case:

          Interior shot:

          Dually action in full effect:

          Front opened up:

          Lights off !!

          Vista Ultimate 64 bit:

The nearly worthless WEI score, but here it is:

In trying to get that elusive last 5.9 score, I had upped the CPU to 3.6 ghz in an effort to get all 5.9's, but the CPU wasn't stable enough to maintain it, so I dropped it to 3.4 (it shows 3.38, but I'll bump it a bit to 3.4).

Gene, sad to say, but I sold my AM2 board two weeks ago. It was an ECS K3 Extreme board, but no onboard video so that wouldn't help in your case. Also, I have an 80gb Raptor, but no 150 model.

Here's the other PC up for grabs:

Actually, I am going to try and rebuild this one around another video card, as the 8800 ACS3 card in this one is a very rare bird, and altho I should sell the whole enchilada, I really do have a sentimental spot in my heart for it. It was the first video card I spent over $400 on when buying it.

That's wierd. I was able to get my E6600 over 5.8 @3.2GHz. Can't remember what the rating is exactly. I can't get above 5.8 overall, though. My bottleneck is my HDD (which is actually a RAID0 array, go figure).

OK, I have a CLR (or two) that are interested, so hopefully I get a PM this evening from the first buyer.
If that falls thru, a second buyer gets dibs on it and it will be going to a good home with either one.

I'm sad to see it go, but happy to keep it in the virtual family here. This is a nice PC, but I just don't see any point in keeping it around. I have (had) nine PCs up and going in the house, and its mentally wearing me out to do this both at work and at home for over 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week.

As of lunchtime today, I am now without one of my computer 'kids'.

Congrats to H0ly-H@nd-Gr3nade, who has a helluva nice PC on his way to him.

I have to say that this particular build was probably my best so far, and it really was hard to part with it. It was my jawdropper PC that I used to impress friends that came over, and I miss it already, so it wouldn't surprise me to find that I build a clone of it in a few years if the PC upgrade bug returns to me.

After watching it install Acrobat 9.1 in less than 20 seconds, I have no doubt it would smoke my main PC in the raw throughput department. But alas, it found a good home and I know he will have a lot of fun gaming on it.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
