I think the last ATI I bought was a AIW Pro and the previous ATI was the same type thing before that. I've like NVIDIA cause I have never had a problem with drivers acting as flacky as ATI drivers do. This is just based on my experience but Diamond drivers were less flakey than ATI drivers to me.

To help when the cards getting hot...try RivaTuner.....you can set the fan speed to what you want.it may make a little more noise, but it will run cooler.

EVGA makes a tool for nvidia cards called EVGA Precision. Gives real time temps and can adjust fan and gpu speeds.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'll be ordering one right after I get my new RAM and see if it's running correctly.

I'm not! I'm currently running a 8800GTS. However if the ATI range is better then that is what i'll purchase.

Hope you never enter the HTPC market as ATI own Nvidia.

Determined to go SLI then? Single solutions are always better unless you need some serious gfx power.

No, Sli with newer cards will mean a new PSU... then I'll have to get a i7 CPU to go with that new PSU. Then get DDR3 ram. Then get a new 2TB Harddrive... then get another 2TB drive since I already have it filled. Then get the new card. Then liquid cool everythin... so it's basically getting a new PC. So I'll stick to one GTX275 if everything goes according to plan. I'm happy with my e-thingus for now.

Do you have the upgrade bug? WalkinTarget had that and it didn't turn out very well.

If one over looks the Intel vs AMD vs Nvidia onboard video; since a GPU cards is not required in the HTPC unless your planing to game with the HTPC. I don't know about "ATI own Nvidia" in the HTPC. Just more of a better option over Nvidia. considering that ATI built in HDMI with 7.1 surround sound. where else Nvidia needs the included SPDIF cable to plug in to the sound card or the mobo onboard sound and a DVI-to-HDMI adapter

There are a lot of issues with Intel and AMD embeded solutions and HDCP and Hardware acceleration for HD video. At one power PowerDVD stopped supporting them. That's probably changed again but ATI is still the better option.

I prefer a single card solution. You could also use your old card for the physics only.

OK I downloaded RivaTuner to see what it's all about and I'm getting 3 different readings of my GPU temp. Rtuner says my core GPU temp is 60. I opened the nVidia monitor and it said 68. I then changed the skin of the nVidia monitor and now I'm getting 58. Would someone explain to me what the hell is going on and which temp should I go by?

Also... my fan is not going at 8RPM... it's 1800 but for some reason everything in my computer is falling apart *Harddrive making noises* *explosion*

My personal opinion, if you have the Nvidia 2XX series, its not even worth the effort to use your old card for physx. My GTX 280 was more then enough to handle the work load from physx. After playing around with Nvidia physx test demo's, I saw very little FPS (if any) improvements using a 2nd card for physx.

If you have Vista you will run into a issue that I ran into. The issues was that the 8800GT fan runs 100% and the Vista did not detect a monitor pluged into the 8800GT. I had to get make a VGA dummy plug to make Vista "see" a monitor pluged in the 8800 card with a VGA dummy plug.

I would use RivaTuner over Ntune or Nvidia monitor view (both buggy) I would think two different temp monitor programs readings will be not be the same. The thing that I do like about Nvidia monitor view is that its plain and simple. As for Nvidia monitor view skin, its a known issue. Now go play something graphic intensive game and tell us the reading
