Looks like you'll be paying $199 then. Tbh it's worth it considering Vista is still over $100.

When I got my upgrade version they sent a retail package to me with a DVD that had all versions on it. The only problem that I ran into was when it came time to reinstall windows you were supposed to install XP first and then apply the upgrade BUT I found a walk around that made it so I didn't have to do that.

When Win 7 is coming soon it's pointless to build one with Vista. I'm telling you- Win 7 is the Ferrari of OSs.

Here is a link to the upgrade offer on M$ website. I do think you will get the same DVD that you would get if you bought it directly.

well is like the top of the line of intel right now but mainstream socket. The performance is similar to I7 but in general its going to cost a lot less then i7.

Preliminary Tests on Intel Core i5 Conducted
i5? i5! Core i5 would be the brand name Intel's mainstream desktop derivatives of the Nehalem architecture based on the Lynnfield core would carry. It is similar to its big brother, the Core i7 for the most of the part except for a few differences:
• A current generation Direct Media Interface (DMI) Interconnect as chipset interface
• A 128-bit wide DDR3 memory interface (Dual Channel) instead of triple-channel
• Some more machinery from the northbridge migrated to the CPU, such as the PCI-Express root complex
• The newer LGA 1160 socket

From what i saw so far at the forums its look like killer cpu for the mainstream channel.

The new Core i3, i5 and i7 processor line-up must be Intel's worst kept secret ever.
As you guys know, upcoming quad core Lynnfield based processor will be segmented in the Core i5 and i7 naming schema. Dual-core CPUs (32nm Clarkdale) will be segmented into Core i5, Core i3 and Pentiumseries. The Clarkdale processors will see the light into seven models, four will be launched under the Core i5 600 series with respective clock frequencies of 3.2 to 3.46 GHz, supporting for Hyperthreading and Turboboost. Clarkdale CPU's will have a 4MB L3 cache and a TDP of 73W. The cheapest one seems to be $176.
Core i3 500 series Core i3-540 and 530 clocked at 3.06 2.93GHz will not come with Turbo boost yet do hyper thread to 4 threads. Both will be priced at $143 $123 respectively.
