My new build and a big Doh!

Well, It's been about 4-5 years since I built myself a new PC. Been doing it for others since before that. It was always sad when the burn-in period was over. Although I did put a 8800gts in it for cod4...alas it was still a Athlon 3700!

I have the other items - DVD burner, cables, pci-e power adapters ect.

So...what was the BIG DOH? I forgot to order the freakin' Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard! I was so excited there was extra bucks for another Sapphire Vapor 4870 1GB for Crossfire I forgot to make sure it was on the order! Now I have to wait until later this week to order it.

Anything higher than 1024x768! I need to see what the max res is on my monitor (on my laptop now). I should have enough juice to crank up the AA and all the eye candy.

Only reason why i was asking is that if you're playing on anything less than 1920x1080 that CPU is going to be one hell of a bottleneck for those GFX cards.

That's probably the resolution I will start playing at. Why do you think the quad core will choke on less than that res?

He doesn't like AMD, Jed. Don't worry, my 940 doesn't even get to 50% load...n ur CPU will have a higher speed and better ram.

Jed, not that scores are everything, but I had to throw this one out to show that one can do alright with AMD and just 1 4870, lol.




P.S. that was before I learned how to adjust maxframe rate, which I now run at 200.
