    iTouch

Anyone have one? Other than being a sweet little gadget, is there a practical use for it?

I used to have a Palm Tungsten, but it broke over time. Mainly I want something that has a scheduler in it, plus I like the little apps you can run. I understand you need wi-fi to get to the net with the iTouch. Also its 200 dollars for the 8GB, is it worth it to spend the extra 100 to get the 32GB one?

Also, do you HAVE TO use iTunes to install mp3's? Right now I use WMP10 for all my mp3's and I buy them off Amazon.com Will I be able to transfer those to my iTouch?

I used to call it iTouch also... my friends were giggling every time I say it...

Yes you need iturd for everything. Anything you have on your PC can be transferred. No need to buy from iTunes.

I had a bad experience with iTunes when I had my old iPod (The hell is synch? just let me copy&paste my damn MP3!!). Then my friend got an iPod touch a few months back. Which is pretty much an iphone without a camera or a phone. It definitely looks good. But a few weeks back I bought a Zune from Micro (Fanboy, hehe) It turns out even Zune needs a damn software program to synch music/video/etc. However all the Apps put the iPod touch waaaaaaay ahead of Zune. When you go to Zune market place, you will find in TOTAL 10 apps. Chess, space raiders, a calculator and some other crap which are not useful. For the Touch, you get thousands of apps and if you would like to pay 10$ a month (or one time payment? I don't know) you get to download all those Apps and games from marketplace. It doesn't however hold as much a charge as a Zune. My zune stays up for at least 35 hours on music. Touch is (from what my friend estimates) about 20 hours. All in all, touch is the way to go if you're buying an organizer. For mp3 only, get new ipod. WITH A CAMERAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

I bought one in the summer. http://www.cainslair.org/showthread....ghlight=itouch

I have been using Itunes and although its not super It's not as bad as I thought it would be. The aps that I use are great and I find surfing the web to be as easy as can be expected with such a small device. I use it for the weather tracking and the flight tracking app but my favorite one is a Sudoko app. When my Verizon contract expires I will probably get an Iphone because of my experience with the I touch. Now to get online I have to use my Boingo account which can be a bit of a hassle to log into.

Ahh I forgot about that thread.

Yeah right now my wife and I are on a family plan with the rents and my sis with Verizon. We just switched to it only a few months back. I looked at the iPhone plans and dam they are pricey!!! You'd obviously want the data package as well so for two people its like 150 or something +

I would love to have the phone with internet access because I think it's very handy to have all those features.

Does the iTouch have a GPS in it at all? Like if you're on a wifi connection can it tell you how to get somewhere?

Other than the planner stuff I just want to make sure I don't need iTunes to copy files. Right now my wife has a little SanDisk one and we use WMP to copy mp3's that we've bought to it. It is very easy.

I have an app that will allow me to transfer files and I don't think that Itunes need to be running. As for the GPS I don't think it has a GPS chip but it does tell you your position when logged in to a network. I can check later.

                I have the 16Gig iTouch.
My overall opinion and keep in mind I am NOT an apple guy, but, it's the best mutliuse handheld on the market today. The amount of apps that have been created for by far outnumbers anything to date for a hand held device hands down. The iTouch version does NOT have the GPS chip. I wish it did.

As far as iTunes goes, I have only connected my iTouch to the computer to sync up music one two times in since we've had it(about 6 months). I only use it to sync music with my iPOD and iTouch. I use Windows Media player for ripping my CDs and managing all my mp3s.

The selling point on the iTouch for me was when I heard our military is using it for some SF soldiers in the field because of the apps DoD contractors have been designing. You can definitely see the capability once your checkout Google Maps and a couple other apps for it.

I want the iPhone, but so far, I refuse to go with AT&T to get it. Hopefully Apple will wake up sooner or later and Sprint will carry it.

I have AT&T and have been extremely happy with them. Much happier than I was with Sprint. My son has an iphone and loves it. I am probably going to get one for Christmas. For music I have the 120 gig Zune. I have more music than the iphone or itouch will hold. Currently I have approximately 60 gigs of music and 20 gigs of pod casts.

PG you can get refurbished iphones, from AT&T, for half the price of new ones.

yea,i know i wanted to get a refurbished one, i suggested it to my mom,but she doesnt like buying refurbished phones for some reason, i dont know if its because she thinks they're going to break again, or shes looking for a specific phone she wants cuz we're on a 2 year contract and we sometimes look for some new phones but we never buy refurbished ones
