    continuous BSOD on startup.....again....

Ok guys i need some help, one of my hard drives has crapped out, and its making me have continuous BSOD on startup. I need to know two things:
First: How do i access the registry from another install of Xp on a different drive, when i run RegEdit it gives me the registry of the new install (i need to do this to grab all my cdkeys and such b/c i tossed some manuals a while ago).
Second: How do i repair the drive (without reformatting) so i can retrieve my data.

EDIT: well i just ran ChkDsk from the XP CD, and it said "CHKDSK has found one or more UNRECOVERABLE errors on this drive" so i think its time to go get a new drive......

    Google bartpe

How to edit the registry offline using BartPE boot CD ?

Boot to a live CD such as Ultimate Boot CD or Bart PE and then you can copy or retrieve CD keys.

You can also tap F8 at startup and select disable restart on BSOD, so that you can see what offending file is causing the BSOD. This is where you can start the repair process.

Also from the F8 screen, you could try a 'Last Known God Configuration' to see if that would help. Or even from within Safe Mode, answer 'No' to the initial prompt and that launches the System Restore utility, and you may find that an earlier restore point is functional and gets you back into Windows.

Failing all of the above options, you can go ahead and boot to the CD that came with your PC (if you don't have one, I can get you one) and run a repair install over top of your existing OS.

thx for the support guys, but i cant even boot into safe mode... and no file is listed on the BSOD just a memory range, im thinkin i have a virus or my drive i dead....gonna give bartpe a try if i can get it to load.
I have already tried a fresh install on another drive, and that works but the xp cd isnt recognizing my original install as a viable install of windows, so it isnt even showing up as a repairable option. Im going to try pulling each drive and putting them in external housings to see if i can get at the data from another computer.
EDIT: Does anyone know if there is a way to access the registry thru another install, if so can you post the filepath (if there is one). If not im thinkin its time to reformat all 3 of my drives and hope the problem goes away....

It must be similar to God Mode. Or Bill Gates really does have a Messianic Complex.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
