    Fantasy build

Well I have been procrastinating my to do list this morning so I decided to throw together a rig that I will not be building. It's a good way to get current on the latest hardware so I would love to read what you guys have to say about this list. The only case that got me excited was the level 10 but I would never drop that much on a case so there is no case listed here. This list came in under $1500.00 minus a case and a monitor. I would probably get a Dell Ultrasharp 24" and some high quality aluminum case.

If you are looking for a fantasy build check out the specs on this motherboard. I have it and it is a dream and it over clocks great too. It also has two BIOS in case you screw up an over clock.

The MB area was one of the more confusing parts of my quick search. I really don't know what all the specs are. What's good about the LE?

*thinks to himself: not everyone runs FSX*

So getting out of my FSX-only recommendations for a dream rig...

I'd look at either the GTX 285 or ATI's newest the 5890 for video cards

I'd probably go with a i7 920 or 950 and overclock one of those to at least 4.0GHz, using a TRUE cooler or Prolima Megahalems

              megahalems

Matched with a solid mobo like the X58 listed above, but with the RAM I'd get 6GB of Mushkin's LL stuff:

Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Redline 6GB Desktop Memory Model 998691 - Desktop Memory

As for PSU's, I prefer a solid massive single 12v rail for amperage....something like this (I also like modular better, I think non-modular is maybe $30 less)

Interesting stuff. I had chosen the PSU for the combo deal and I have had luck with my Thermaltake PSU. I would definitely need to look a the rails and see what they have. I though about the higer end video cards but I was aiming for less then $300.00

                Good stuff.

I just received my new Radeon 5850 today and it is GREAT!
Cost was $277 total and it has whipped every test I have thrown at it. It even did well on the Arma 2 demo benchmark, where I turned every setting to its max.

You need to do some more benchmarks furry and post the results. I'm leaning towards getting one soon.

I switched the RAM to the higher end Mushkin that you suggested Ryan.

I also found the case that I would pick out I just can't say enough about the quality of my current case and this one is just plain sexy.

Duke... check out the CoolMaster Sniper case. It's awesome! It's what I got for my latest build. Was onsale at NewEgg for $129 when I got it. You will love this case. Love it.

Large fans out the ying-yang, plenty of room instide, supports water cooler (if you are into that), space behind the motherboard mount for running all the wires.

That is a nice looking case. I do like a side window and the price is nice.
