Win 7 - its official, soooo .. are you planning on upgrading ?

They only thing that will make me upgrade is if there is a game that requires it. XP and Vista work well enough for me right now. Since I only game on my windows boxes I'm not in a hurry. That said though I really wouldn't mind upgrading I just don't want to spend the time dealing with it. I'd rather go to the range or load ammo

If they work in XP they will work in Win 7 Professional, using Virtual PC XP Mode.

Really???? i may have to try then... when i got my pc i got the free vista upgrade so i didnt use it because of my programs... would i still get the free upgrade to 7 then??? or would i have to purchase it? also what ram do i need to run it and still have my games run without memory erors.. i have 2 gig now thinking about putting another gig in to get 3 but my tower maxes out at 3 gig...

What image apps? Pretty much everything will run under Vista or Win7. If you're going for Win7 then you should install the 64bit version and get 4gb of RAM.

Limited to 3gb? Really? Can't say i've ever heard of a motherboard limiting itself to not only such a small amount, but also an odd number instead of an even one.

You could still run with 2gb however there is more chance that the pagefile will be used. You won't have any memory errors even though i'm not sure what you mean by that.

My towers like 2 years old or something like that i think.. maybe it was a 2 gig limit.... i went onto a sight once where it ran a performance test on my tower and told me what it could handle and thats what i thought it sayd, but i may be thinking of my other pc that would be like 6 years old or so now.. i have one more empty slot for a ram chip.. my tower has 4 slots total i have two 512's and my 1 gig card in now.

my old tower when i would play games such as bf2 when it was new would get memory errors and tell me that i didnt have sufficient memory to run the application witch is why i purchased my new tower. i can run games like bf2 and bf2142 now with all the visuals on the high settings and i was worried that if i would upgrade to a new OS that i would run into the problems i ran into with my old pc plus i couldent run my programs that arnt compatible with anything other than XP so i stayed with it..

I just got my Windows 7 upgrade disc from Sony for my laptop. Will probably install the upgrade in the next few days. I'll probably hold off a little longer on my desktop and wait till I do a full reinstall.

Sounds to me like you were getting virtual memory errors which can be quickly fixed with a simple adjustment within windows.

What motherboard do you have?

no clue.. its a hp pavilion o1600n with an amd 64 athlonx2 processor

i dont get those errors with this pc. that was with my old compac percerio (spelling??) that i got that... just was worried i might if i upgraded
