    Gigabyte P55's set records

Guys I've been looking at a Gigabyte mb for my new build when I get home. And was looking at the website. They just turned in some record setting performance's in the 1156, and 1366 categories. Not just with CPU clocks but RAM also.

    Core I7 870 @2594.71Mhz
    Ram Record
    1729.8MHz * 2 = DDR3 3459.6 @11,11,11,31

    Core I7 870 Lynnfield.
    CPU Record
    272.41 Mhz. x 21.0 = 5720.5

    Core I7 870 @4800Mhz
    PCMark 2005 Record
    GTX 295 4048Mb DDR3 2200 800Mhz @ 8,8,8,24
    Score 20859 marks

These are just a few, there are some other records they set that I wasnt familiar with and the three above were the ones I was familiar with.

Here's the link if you wanna take a look.

    These are the reviews.

This was the board I was looking at or maybe the X58. Havent made up my mind yet. What ya'll think.

Dont expect to get those numbers.
They probably used Liquid Nitrogen on those things.
They most likely used the best of the best parts and went all out on those parts.

Gigabyte has been doing alot of competitions these last few years so it doesnt surprise me.

Fastest cpu record was 1.8 on vcore, they are 1.1ish stock.

Record ram scores they used 2gb of ram and they had to downclock the cpu to do it.

And with ram the Latency matters more then the speed nowadays.

But it is sad to see how much oc room there is on some of these parts and that Intel and mobo manufacturers leave it up to customers to OC them, Im running a 27% oc on my Wolfdale E8500 and im sure i could get 32% or more on air if i wanted to.

Yeah, I noticed they had everything else backed off. But the point I was gettin at was that I think the Gigabyte brand has potential. I wouldnt ever try and push near as hard as those numbers. I have an E8400 in my machine in Bangkok and only run at 10% over at 3.3. Didnt even touch the ram or the vid card for that matter and it runs like a champ.

I just like the fact that it seems like a stable board with potential, along with the I5 chip. No need in spending the money for an I7 when you can get excellent performance from the I5 with this board on the cheap, with what seemed like overclocking was a breeze.

Thats what I was getting at and was lookin for input on.Thanks Donzi, good points. I've just been enamored with this board for a while and it seems like I'm probably gonna go this direction. Unless someone presents a good argument to the contrary.

I had a Gigabyte board go bad and it took 3 days to get ANY response from their Tech Support. They do not staff on the weekends or holidays. So if your board fails on Friday evening of a holiday weekend, you are crap out of luck for many days.
        A change of Pace.
