    logon.exe?

I an avira Antivirus on my laptop, and it told me me C:\Windows\System32\logon.exe had a trojan.

So now it is quarantined, but when I logged on again, it said something alone the lines of logon.exe cannot be found.

Does anyone know what I should do? Is it that vital to my system?
Should I try and get it replaced by a different logon.exe?

    Thanks,
    Baller

It sounds like a false positive. Try updating your antivirus, restore the file from quarantine, and rescan. If it keeps flagging it, let me know what flavor of operating system and I'll hook you up with a replacement if you have no backups.

Logon.exe is not a part of windows XP or Vista.
The logon process in Windows is handled by the lsass.exe and winlogon.exe.

I would NOT restore the file and it probably was a trojan. You can search the registry for logon.exe and see what you find. Post the registry keys you find it in so we can see it for future reference.

Also, use msconfig and see if it's listed in your startup area.

Here's a link to a writeup on liutilities talking about it:

I suggest you also google it and see what I see.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
