    Dead Power Supply

My wife called me in to look at our PC. It had been in sleep mode(windows 7). She pressed the power button to wake it up, the power light came on solid, there was some disk activity , but the monitor never came on, just flashing wait for a signal.

I pressed the reset button, but it didn't reset. Tried to press and hold the power button, nothing changed. Power light on, disk activity light blinking every once in awhile. So I turned off the switch on the power supply, waited 15 seconds, and then turned the switch on again. NOTHING. The fan on the power supply is not spinning, and the, obviously, the PC did not boot. I checked the cord moved it to another outlet, nothing..... CRAP.

Have I forgotten anything? Guess I'll be running down to Bestbuy to get another power supply.

No, I didn't. Unlikely, but I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I don't need excuse to get pwned!

And the PS didn't fix it.

The green light on the MOBO is glowing showing there is power to the board, I should have looked at that last night, but forgot about it. I checked the power on/off button on the case, put a meter on it to check continuity, and it is working properly. I'm at a loss, I'm now afraid it's the MOBO, but I don't want to just willy nilly replace parts now.

Is there anything else it could be if the on/off switch is working and the PS is putting out power by the green light indication on the MOBO?

Followed a ASUS guide. Pulled the mobo battery, then put the battery in backward, yes it said to do that, wait 30 secs, then put the battery back in the correct way. This is supposed to reset the BIOS. What ever, it worked.

Does your MB have a restart switch on the board itself? I have also heard of people pulling out the cnos battery to fix certain issues with the MB.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
