To be honest myself I wouldn't want an ebook reader. I mean the buying a book and having it immediately is cool. However I just like holding a book in my hand

I was going to suggest the nook also guys. Yes the use of the network is free just like the kindle uses the sprint 3G network for free.
Do a comparison between the nook and kindle. I the following points sold me on it too. I haven't got one yet, but it's in our future. From what I've seen it's late release and supply also doesn't make it available for Christmas. So it will be Jan or late Dec before you could get one.
Pros on nook:
-Build in pdf reader
-support SD for going between computer and nook, e.g. downloading books from books24x7.com and reading them on the nook.
-Color support screen.
Cons I didn't like about nook:
-Late availability
-Use of AT&T network(just don't like AT&T)
@homosapien: In response to your commenets I have to disagree. These type readers are just starting and have great potential. These are actually the makings of a totally paperless environment and the difference between reading, the actual visual part, is no different than reading a book.
The handling is a different story, how it is holding it while reading, the ease of changing pages, book marking etc., may be a little different but it's just a matter of getting use to it. It's human nature to be reluctant to change, but this is the way of the future and I support it 100%.
If I worked in a unclassified environment I would definitely be standing on a managers desk to get a batch of these things bought for the labs, but unfortunately it's not an option with us as long as it has certain features.

DougBob it has nothing to do with change for me. Nothing beats the feel of a a book for me, we're talking about a kid who would log 300+ hours every summer in the library club's summer reading program. Furthermore, as I speed reader, I actually read faster on paper than on a screen. For me it's a matter of taste.
As for my advice, I still encouraged Duke to explore others besides the Kindle, because it's an expensive, highly specialized piece of hardware, and as such I THINK requires some thought.
