    USB Troubles

I recently reformatted my computer as I was told I should do by people on here and people at best Buy.

On a side note... HA! They wanted $200 to reformat it Yeah right.

    Anyway.

I went to install my Netgear USB adapter for my internet, and it hasn't been working.
Everytime I plug it in I get 3 "beeps" in my headset. Like.. "duh-duh-dum."

Does anyone know what could cause this.. or how to fix it for that matter?

I have tried plugging it into the extension cord, the regular USB port, other USB ports, and no luck.
My headset and my external hard drive are working like a pro though, so I'm not sure what to do.

    Any help is good help.
    Thanks,
    Baller

Give us some details of the hardware and what you've done example:
    1. USB netgear model XXXX versinon ####, OS win7, Vista, etc.
    2. Installed drivers with not problems OR Windows 7 automatically detected USB device
    3. Rebooted machine
    4. Connected USB network adapter, beeped three times and displayed error in event viewer "blah blah blah"

Also, was everything working normally before the clean install?
-To troubleshoot USB issues, make sure all other USB devices are unplugged.
-Check the event viewer for errors.

Most likely your Windows install doesnt have it configured right, try reinstalling the drivers for it.

That's where I was heading. Usually you have to install the driver before connecting the device.

Isn't the 'duh duh dum' the default sound in Windows for 'you have connected a USB device'?

Does sound like a driver issue however windows usually picks a good standard one to get you going. Seems not so in this case though.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
