When I first opened the case up I did notice that the cable for the 640GB had some tension. I checked the cables and I moved one of the clips on the SATA power cord so that the plugs line up with no tension. I also re routed the data cable to different ports on the MB for the same reason. The next time I put in an order to NewEgg or FrozenCPU I will invest in a couple cables with 90 degree angles to clean it up a bit.

so far they have but they were intermittent so I will keep my fingers crossed that they don't pop up again.

This thread reminded me of something that came up at work. We just released this product

It runs linux as the OS and then has a board filled with FPGA's that plugs into a PCIE slot for doing very fast network file system stuff. Anyways the OS is running on Linux software raid 1 two drive config. We had issues where the raid was occasionally going out of sync. The drives are mounted higher up in the bay. Behind that fascia are three loud powerful fans. It's an enterprise box so it's supposed to go into a data center. Oddly enough the belief is that with the drives in the higher position vibration from the fans are causing occasion write errors. The fix....move to the lower position where theres less vibration.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
