Stiffling. this little bugger, based on the wofldale core, appears to be the next big budget overclocker, similiar to its predessor, the E6400.

sadly, my $369 will be outdone by its $183 counter part. expected to hit stores January 20th..

this guy pushed it to 4ghz, but even stock its no slouch compared to the e6850.

I would not count on that price to hold true at all .. similar to what we've seen regarding the retail price on the 8800GT cards that are on the market now.
I wouldn't doubt that it would come in around $275 and possibly drop within 4 months, but without any competition from AMD, why drop the price ?

Regardless, it looks like a nice chip, but I wonder what boards will support it ? My i650 is looking older by the day here, and to think that I just built this rig in July/August is quite annoying.

Anyhoo, taking a wait and see here, and stockpiling my slush fund for either this chip or 2 8800GTs.

I have done it to my CPU but my friend As and it stable as hell if you Check out Youtube and type in Q6600 it you can see the cpu over clocked to to 4GHZ.

As for the cost of my Quad core it was ?135 about 4 weeks ago when I bought it because I got the same one for my son.

Since intel doesn't enforce their pricing, your probably right. it'll be around 283 first day at newegg, similiar to the e6400 at launch. but, even then, it'll be a nice budget overclocker. even stock its stil decent, and a testiment to how we now have more computing power than we need.
