    Gaming on a MAC?

Anyone here actually game on a MAC?
Any thoughts, tips, ideas, comments on gaming on a MAC? Is it even feasible?

I assume game options are limited, but how really limited are they these days that MAC is somewhat growing in popularity...

Been considering switching, mainly due to the graphic application and photography I'm doing these days. Been using a MAC at school (total of 50 or so hours on one so far) and I like it.

TBH Twink, I dont think you can really game on a MAC... I cant even think of the last GOOD title that was supported by MAC. I can see your thoughts in regards to photography and such as I know a few proffesinoal photographers myself and their studios have MAC's. I would suggest using a MAC for that and having a seperate Gaming PC

If you want to game on a Mac, I would suggest using Bootcamp and dual boot. That way you can boot Windows when you want to game.

Bigtwinky you could build a PC and they have something that you plug into the MB that will allow you to run the Mac aps that you want.

My best friend is a graphic designer...works at home...has a top of the line Mac. He bought a PS3 so that he could game online with his friends. Any other questions? Sorry, BT.

Sorry about the pessimism, but, even though Mac is getting a larger share of the market than it did in the old days...threads like the one on the Alan Wake game suggest to me that if developers are even shying away from the PC market in favor of consoles, Macs will almost certainly not draw them in.

Ah, now we are getting into good talks. Thanks guys!

See, I was thinking along the lines of Jeffro's comment in that Mac's, from what I hear, are setup better and better in terms of graphics. They have good ram and good processors, so I dont see a technical reason why. I guess marketing and market share are big reasons why PC gaming is for...well....PCs.

I run all the apps I need to run on my PC...Lightroom, Photoshop, and all that. I'm just trying to keep informed as to my options when the time comes to upgrading, which shouldnt be in too long.

I definately won't be having both a Mac and a PC on my desk. However, both in my eyes require a decent sized and quality monitor to do, so its not like I can just get a macbook and then a PC desktop.

Hackintosh, plugins, booting windows...definately food for thought.

Well I was poking around and I found this about the chip that is being used. There are some issues with the chip so it may not be possible.

All you have to do is install Windows on a separate partition through Boot Camp and voila! All that power goes into gaming just fine. I've got several friends who game on their Macbook Pros this way.

There's even a program called Crossfire that allows you to run a lot of PC games flawlessly while still working in Mac OS. I know all of the Valve games work fine.

The way I see it. Developers just dont want to spend resource and time working on titles for MAC's. Let alone trying to figure out issues and bugs for macs platforms. They already have enough issues working on the kinks and bugs on current games for PC.

PC titles ports are now what it is and I dont think its not going to get any better...example: Codemasters title Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising just release a statement on their forums that they are done with the Operation flashpoint Dragon Rising after the two dates for DLC (arr you know how much I hate that word. What happen to "mappack") They was supposeally working to have multiplayer for dedicated servers instead of that peer to peer crap.

With the upcoming release of the Overwatch DLC on PS3, and a few "heated" threads on the topic, I just wanted to inform you all that the team have now completed the ?Dragon Rising? chapter of Operation Flashpoint and that?s it for DR-related content going forward.

We are sorry if Dragon Rising and the two DLCs released to date have left you wanting even more, but in the grand scheme of future plans and schedules the vast majority of the team are already busy planning the future of modern combat.

We're aware that this news might disappoint some of you, but I kindly ask that you all please keep any future posts on this topic mature and constructive.

As ever, post-release tech support continues as normal, and if you do have any technical issues with the game then please don't hesitate to contact our customer services team at custservices@codemasters.com

From a community perspective, I?m still here to help you all and will continue to pass on comments and feedback from the community to the dev team, so please keep on posting and letting us your thoughts regarding the game, or even what you?d like to see in future titles and maybe sequels!
