Haha, all this wait for the next mind-blowing Nvidia product...

NVIDIA GTX 480 makes benchmarking debut, matches ATI HD 5870 performance (video) -- Engadget

ATI's offering is 6 months old (quite a long time in the GPU market), and the new 'great' card for which there has been so much hype is basically coming at at an almost-even level.

Can't wait for the gaming benchmarks in two weeks. I'll either eat my words, which with Nvidia's track record, I doubt... or laugh at yet again at the Nvidia die hards.

I read this recently too. Fermi will get better with newer driver updates. Hopefully a lot better.

But like Heceldi stated it does need to be tested on actual games for us to make a proper comparison.

Hey thanks for the back story Caddys, most of us DON'T follow nVidia on twitter, facebook, myspace, nvidia forums, nZone, Hard forums, every other forum on the internet involving Computers and hardware. But hey, I enjoy looking at GPUs with burns.

Bunch of reviews out now for this. Seems like the consensus is that it's good in a few games, average in many (especially BC2), uses a ton of power even at idle, and is hot and loud. Oh and it's expensive to boot (especially for people not using the US$).

Not good news for Nv really even if it is the fastest single GPU card on the market... in mosts of the benchmarks. TSMC's issues really hit them hard.

                        Power - Temp - Sound - NVIDIA Fermi - GTX 470 - GTX 480 - GTX 480 SLI Review | [H]ard|OCP

Watch the second video down (GeForce GTX 480)

LMAO is it trying to take off at 95c? Wait till about 10 seconds after he says 95c for the first time. Wow, can anyone say aftermarket cooler?

                        Legion Hardware.

All that power makes for one seriously hot graphics card. Do not be fooled by the 97 degree load temperature. While this is the maximum temperature that we recorded, the fan was spinning so fast things started sliding across my desk towards the test system. The GeForce GTX 480 was truly deafening when running our full load test.

Letting the card sit at the Windows 7 desktop for 20 minutes after stress testing saw the temperature only drop to 65 degrees. When it came time to remove the GeForce GTX 480 from our test system I had to wear a pair of gloves to avoid any possible burns or dropping the extremely hot graphics card. The PCI Express power cables were amazingly soft from all the heat that had been thrown at them.

I was hoping this would start another war between Nv and ATI. Which would be great for consumers.

edit: Just thought of something. If they're that hot now, what will happen this summer?

Seems like my next card will be a 5850.

I was hoping for something better than this...
