    New Build Photos & Complaints

OK first of all, this is my first major purchase from newegg. So I had VERY high expectations. I get the boxes, a day early, and open them... but wait- They're already open! For me? You shouldn't, newegg, you shouldn't open my Retail boxes for me. I'll wait a couple of days, get the rest of the parts and call them. Complain and ask Why the hell were my boxes open? Apart from my Ram, CPU, and Case. All other boxes were open or were resealed POORLY. Some of them weren't even sealed. Just opened with a normal box cutter, even chewed through the edges. You can see it's used. Hell, my SSD had scratches on it. Like it was dragged through streets- 2 miles it seems. The only thing I bought bare was the Raptor. Which was fine. Of course I can't judge on whether they are working or not yet. My PSU and VGA are on the way from New Jersey. They should be here tomorrow or the day after. Now to the photos. Before you ask, I only put the mobo on the carpet to take pictures. I realize that isn't a good idea now. Too bad I won't know if mobo was already dead or if I just killed it. Hopefully my carpet wasn't too bad.

At least the case was in shape.

Scratches, oh do I love them.

    Thing weighs a ton.

Bad idea to put all my RAM in before booting for first time?

Hope this gets sorted. And everything works. I am in no mood or have no time for RMA's. But I see a few RMA's in my future.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Why are you going to wait to call them?

Because I don't wanna call em for an open box only. I want to see if they work. Do the RMA as well.

Can you give a better pic on the SSD, that looks like it may be normal scratches from the chemical treatment on the aluminum chassis of the SSD.

I buy stuff from Newegg all the time. I don't remember ever getting preopened boxes, though.

Wow the cpu cooler is huge lol

Since this is your first, you should keep it short and simple. That way if something does happen after the first or 2nd boot, you already have several things eliminated for less pain and trouble shooting.

I'm sure you align the CPU to the socket correctly? Did you get any paste with that CPU fan cooler? And if so how much or how thick did you put on the CPU? Some people put a pea to bean size drop in the center of the CPU and let the CPU fan spread out the paste. I like to view this as a old method with the single and 2 core's. I spread my paste out paper thinkness on the whole CPU. But each person have a different view or way of doing this.

I can't really tell if you have more then 3 SATA's connected but just keep the SSD install and an optical drive install. Or if you have an old HDD lying around, use it, that way if incase there was any static, it won't affect ur million dollar SSD

You have what 12 GB of ram? Just keep one stick of ram in the first Gray slot closest to the CPU. (in reallity it would be the 2nd slot from the CPU) After your first or 2nd boots and everything works fine, install the other 2 Corsair sticks in the gray slots only.

You dont have to do this but it will help eliminate any probable cause; You may want to check to see if there are any bios update after you install the OS. That way, "if" there was any issue with all 6 sticks installed, it would be updated before you install the other 3 sticks or just go ahead and install the rest and shoot the shaggy dog

The rest maybe overkill but if you dont need to have the front header USB plug in, then disconnect it and ur IEEE cable too. Leave ur front audio connection off for now.

Remember since this board doesnt have onboard Video, install your new GPU card or use ur old one for now untill you get the new GPU card.

Now just double check your Chipset Fan connector is seated properly and ur CPU fan connector is seated properly too. And I cant see to well from the picture but double check to see the front panel header connectors are in the correct pins. Its the little things that sometimes we forget. Make sure your using the 8-pin ATX 12V Power connector and not the 8-pin PCI-E connector for your ATX 12V power connection near your mobo mosfet. Most likely a 8-pin PCI-E connector will not fit but we don't want to try it do we.... .

              Anything else Im missing guys?

              Good luck

The box is well built, sold, and has a lot of dust filters. The cooler is just a bad mofo. i know cause his wallet has it written on it.

+1 CoolMaster Sniper - best case I've purchased. EVER!

I still need to get a CPU cooler/fan, still using the OEM one that came with processor... that V8 looks awsome.

Thanks for teh info everyone. I was busy last night with my old comp. Apparently firefox decided to take a dump and write some huge numbers of lines into my HDD. Had to reformat.

Anyways. I did most of what you said caddys. I'll remove the extra stuff like the e-Sata and 1339 because I don't have any devices that use them. And caddys, you shouldn't spread the grease. Because when you spread it with your fingers it creates air pockets. It makes you lose a couple of degrees. This has stuck in my head "Pea size drop on middle of CPU and install heatsink"

I did have a couple of issues installing the fan. This big, BIG fan. It took me about 20 minutes to install it the first time. Then I look down under my feet and I see the unopened thermal compound tube. Had to redo it all over again. I swear I saw a "FAIL" hoovering right above my head.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
