Myt name is Duke and I have a problem...

I'm a hardware addict and to celebrate Earth Day I decided to pull the trigger on a pair of GTX 470s. I went with the 470's due mostly to cost but they will use a bit less power. Recent developments at the home front have gotten the boss to approve my purchase.

So far I am running BC2 @ 2480 x 1152 with everything on high and I am happy with the performance. I will need to get a better side fan to feed the cards a little more fresh air. The upper one is running 40 degrees warmer at idle but the gap closes at load.

Here are a few pics I'll post a few more after I neaten up the rats nest in there.

Congrats !!! I usta be where you were, but it eventually wears you out when you realize you're playing a 3 year old game (with no incentive to play newer) and you just upgraded for no reason.

You've run into the biggest issue with SLI - air flow on the upper card. I've seen some cases that mount the board sideways (everything plugs into the top which was previously the back) and that would fix the heat issue.

I'm wondering if it's possible to move the bottom card to the bottom slot. It's a x8 slot as opposed to x16 slot so there could be a performance hit but it may be worth it to keep the temps down.

Duke when i got mine SLI 480 i had an eVGA X58 too. But i just net with New Classy so i ll have some space between the cards the difference between both crads was 10'C more for the card on the top..

This is how its now , And i just mounted one 120mm fan on the side to blow air to the top card.

I have no experience with SLI, can you put the card on the highest and lowest slots if the you have tri-SLi mobo?

I think I can put the card in the slot at the bottom but it will send both cards to x8.

Bobbytt I wish I could drop some coin on a new MB but that's not an option now. I will have to come up with other solution.
