Ventrilo, need help with a lame error

I use ventrillo to talk with online friends...

I have never had a problem with vent up until my Vista machine.

In Global Agenda and Battlefield BC2 I have had an issue where I stop hearing people in vent after I connect to a game with its own VoiP system.

I have posted on the ventrilo.com site, but their fix didn't work. Was wondering if anyone had this issue by chance, or if they had any ideas on how to fix it\what might be causing it.

    MORE INFO:

When i realize i can't hear anyone... I can minimize the game. Hit setup and then ok in vent (WITHOUT changing anything) and then i hear people again.

It is really odd and a huge annoyance.

I don't know the exact version, but I do know it is for Vista 64.

I have played a wealth of games that have VoiP in them as well, but no issues are caused in them. (TF2, Unreal 2k4, Heroes of Newerth to name a few).

I'm thinking about starting fresh with windows 7 and hoping the problem does not happen again.

Have you tried disabling the in game voip? There could be some kind of conflict happening.

yeah, i did that for BC2 since i couldn't hear anyways

and it didn't work. it's a stinky situation to minimize a game so many times just to fix vent.

In Windows 7, I have to run Ventrilo as administrator for it to work correctly. You might want to try that.

I have plenty of times I read on the ventrilo.com forums that a few others were having this issue..

the common factor Windows Vista\7 64

one guy said a fresh install of Vent worked. (he somehow noticed his config file was corrupted, but he suffered the same exact symptoms as my vent is suffering from)

i have tried the advice of others there and had no luck. I just need to copy and paste all my vent servers into a master list so a re-install of vent isn't so bad.

I have that issue and nothing fixes it. What needs to happen is a new version of Vent needs to be released.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
