ghost what kind of slot does that go into, im not 100% shure on what kind mine is but the left is 1cm before a verticle bar then 7cm on the right after the verticle bar. Also isnt the 4890 a fairly new card? your already updating? Also real quick, how does it compare to the nvidia GeForce 8500 GT thats what i have in it right now im shure its most likely better but im just wondering.

YOu're going to need to open up the computer and look at the video card. This site shows what each type of slot looks like

I think yolu have a Geforce 8500gt which is a Pci Express slot.

Does you card look like this?
                  NVIDIA 8500GT PCI-EXPRESS VIDEO CARD. 512MB DDR2, RETAIL

The specs I posted in you other thread say you have a 400 W PSU. It may be that you don't have the power connection for the newer video cards so you would want to be sure you do before you go out and buy one.

It does look like that as far as where it plugs in and what-not but mine is red with a different fan im guessing just a different manufacturer.

Ill post pics as soon as my sister gets home with her camera.

damn son! that machine is dirty! . not like mine do not get that way though. while you got her ripped open, get some canned air if you can, and blow everything out. you can see dust starting to clog your heat sink etc.

not that this helps your current issue, but will prevent others in the future.
