    New Processor

I am thinking about upgrading my laptops processor, because mine is getting a little old and is keeping up with games for now, I have looked at Intel. My question is what is the difference between a quad core and a duo core and which one would be best for me and my laptop I like to play games at high quality.

Any help would be very helpful, Thanks in an advise,
    Chief

      Chief,
a quad core has 4 CPU cores as opposed to 2 in a Core2Duo. If you can find a quad core that is compatible with your laptop, that would probably be the better upgrade option. You need to find out what is compatible with your system, though. I looked in to upgrading a few months ago, and found that in my case most of the Core2Quad CPUs weren't compatible with my motherboard.

Laptops are usually limited my their video cards so you may not get the performance bump that you are looking for. I used to go to this site to get information on laptops. There you can find information on you exact model and there may even be a user who has performed the same upgrade that you are looking at. Good Luck.

That's what I was thinking...unless the replacement CPU has the same socket type, I suppose, and even then I wouldn't really want to mess with trying to put one in.

There are standard sockets for mobile CPUs just like there are for desktop CPUs. (For mobile video, this is not the case)

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
