Getting sick of viruses being EMAILED to me in a form of a UPS Shipment

DO you guys get emails from arbitrary numnut with some UPS or FEDEX letter head, saying, "Hey your delivery failed to show up, print out this attached invoice / virus and come pick it up"

I don't open it and just delete it, so no worries, but does anyone have this problem AND how do these people acquire your email address?

Neither UPS or Fed Ex will ever send you an email about a failed shipment. And they would not have a copy of the invoice either.
I love getting emails about someone trying to hack my bank account, at a bank I do not have an account with.

They get it from whatever site you signed up for and checked "I agree to terms and services" without actually reading it.

Obama inauguration, CNN was broadcasting live. However you have to agree on those Terms and Services. One of the terms was that you allow them to use your bandwidth as Peer2Peer and send over packets to other people watching that same video. It's sneaky, but it's mainly people's fault for not reading.

Past - It got shared. You didn't give it to the spammer, but somebody else did. Some organizations are sloppy about the privacy of members, e.g. "it's only a bunch of email addresses". If you're really bored, here's a link to most harvesting methods: http://www.private.org.il/harvest.html

Present - This type of infection spam from various "shippers" has been around for awhile (because it works). If these emails become too annoying, you can set your mail filter to screen for key phrases.

Future - Suggestions:
1. Don't worry about it. Generally, lists of harvested email addresses age within months and get replaced with fresh ones.
2. If you want excellent spam filtering, get a Google gmail accounts for business, public, and family. When one of them becomes too public, change it.
3. Some people go crazy & buy their own domain to create many specialized email addresses like "qicmee.shops.at.sears@qicmee.net". They have no spam problem, no outside interests, and very nice PCs.

Your email gets sold also every time you enter a contest or register for something free. If you do not want spammers to have your email address, control who you give your address to. As Qicmee said, have private and public email addresses. And do not click the links that will supposedly remove you from their list. Just like the phone numbers you call, to remove your fax number from a spammer, all they do is confirm the fax or email. They will turn around and sell it to even more spammers.

You know I have "Internet Marketers" friends that do something similar and make a LIVING doing it?

One of their "Marketing tips" was to provide links when you post some ad on Craig's List to their affiliate marketing junk....Craig's list is now KEEN on this,and even has a list forwarning people who are going to listings on the site.
